Dynamic Volume Control

I have A Onkyo TX-NR807 receiver connected to a DISH HD-DVR. When watching TV channels, the receiver does an acceptable job, not great of controlling the blaring sound on certain commercials, however it does nothing to correct the sound when it varies between channels or when the sounds goes lower. I thought when I bought the receiver that the Dynamic Volume Control was suppose to maintain the sound at the setting on the receiver, but it does not. Is this normal? If not, is there something that I can do to the correct the problem?

Dynamic Volume comes with two settings in your Onkyo: Low and High. The High setting will control the dynamic range more and so I would recommend that you set it to that. I assume that you have already gone through the MultEQ calibration and you have verified that Dynamic Volume is indeed turned on. It is not on out of the box and can only be engaged once your system is calibrated by MultEQ.

    Chris:

I have been reading a lot of information about Dynamic Volume, but I would like some specific directions as to how to set it effectively. Can you recommend any particular scenes from popular movies (or any other source) that I could use to set it properly, and some fairly specific directions on how to do so?

    Thanks...
