do any dsx products decode both the height and with channels?and if so are there any shipping models that pre out so another amp can be used.I would love to implament both,I was also wonder do the receivers with back surrounds still out put those signals when dsx is engaged?in other words can I have my cake and eat it too.7.2 channel surround plus the additional 4 dsx channels playing back at the same time?

Senator It's FINALLY here! http://www.technologytell.com/hometech/86914/onkyos-tx-nr5010-goes-to-eleven/
This has DSX 11.1, correct Chris?

Rickard L Allthough it has 11.4-channel pre-outs, Onkyo says it is 9 channel AV receiver:
This release includes a new, lavishly outfitted nine-channel flagship, the stunning TX-NR5010 Network A/V Receiver; a more affordable nine-channel alternative, the TX-NR3010 Network A/V Receiver; and lastly, a high-power seven-channel solution, the value-packed TX-NR1010 Network A/V Receiver.
11.4-channel pre-outs with DTS Neo:X 11-channel upmixing support on both the TX-NR5010 and TX-NR3010
Note: it has 4 sub pre-outs but two are named SW1 and the other two SW2 so it might just be a Y-splitter internally.

David Ferebee Is does not look like any of the new Onkyo models have multi channel inputs on the back panel so it looks like we are having to sacrifice that for being able to play 11 channels at the same time?? If so I will not be moving up from the NR5008 to the NR5010:(

rob stog I bought a Yamaha rx-a3010 that supposedly handles 11.2 with a second amp. I just connected 9.1 and all are outputting on 7.1 bluray disk. Am I missing something in the tech side? Thanks

David Ferebee Read page 24 and 25 of the manual. You get 11 channels by using one or two external amps and the pre outs depending on what configuration of front presence and rear presence speakers you want to use.

Audyssey Labs Rob: yes you are missing all Audyssey technologies :-)

David Ferebee Rob, sorry I misread your question. There are several settings that will play 9 channels from 2, 5, or 7, channel input. There is no program material that is native 9 channels so the whole point of a fancy AVR like yours it that it plays more channels than the source material like 9 channel stereo for instance. You really need to read the manual for the specifics.
Chris is being funny:) Yamaha does not use Audyssey technology to balance speaker levels and a whole lot more. It uses Yamaha Parametric room Acoustic Optimizer to perform a similar function. So if you have any questions about how that works you might want to find a YPAO forum:)

rob stog Oops, does that mean I'm out of the club? Wish I new as much as I did in pinball machines!
