"Phase" error

MultEQ detects absolute phase for each loudspeaker. Some loudspeakers are designed with intentional phase reversals in the drivers in order to address crossover problems. MultEQ will detect that and report an error. The best course of action is to simply check the wiring and press "Skip" if it is correct. MultEQ simply reports a possible wiring reversal, it does not automatically switch the phase.

I have used MultieqPro for several years, and often in similar speaker setups. I have noticed the phase error in situations where there are hard reflective surfaces in the immediate vicinity.  Let me clarify. A favorite speaker I install is the NHT IC4. This is a speaker with mutliple tweeters facing different directions.  In a ceiling with 4 or 5 identical speakers if one or more of the speakers is close to a side wall, the phase error occurs.  The others are OK. I have seen this phenomenon with other speakers as well. I have noticed this with other speakers too.  On first seeing this, and checking all the wiring, I switched speaker locations and the phase error persisted with the location, not the specific speaker.

Also, having spent many years in the audio business, I have seen very surprising examples of high quality speakers accidentally miswired in the factory. I have very specific long ago instances from Boston & Polk in my memory, and possibly JBL and Infinity, others. There was a Monitor Audio speaker very recently.  Use your judgement about opening up a speaker to check this. It does happen.

It's actually a Phase Warning and not an error.  It can be triggered by how the speaker interacts with the room and also due to intentional design decisions made by the speaker maker, particularly when there are multiple drivers involved.  It is there to have you check the wiring on the back of the speaker and the back of the amp.  If it is correct on both ends, then simply hit Skip and proceed.  It has no effect on the resulting room correction filters.
