Audyssey Correction Curves

I am interested in how Audyssey corrects in the time domain. You indicate you use clustering of the measurements to determine the amount of correction for each band portion. Isn't that just a method to weight the measurements? If you, for eample, do a -2.0 db adjustment at 1 khz to reduce a room mode, wouldn't there be also a
-2.0 db adjustment where there is a dip? Or have you found a way to modify the signal so that the resulting correction is not constant throughout the room but has a different response adjustment for different X-y coordinates? Also, since the target curve for Audyssey is based on film, is this same target curve appropriate for live musical productions, such as those on public television?

Audyssey MultEQ is room correction technology. It doesn't care at all what the content is or what the data compression scheme is (Dolby or DTS). Of course, there are huge variations in the production values between movie content (with strict standards) and non-film content (where there are no mixing standards). It could be that you are hearing differences in mixing style. Most of what Audyssey MultEQ corrects is in the low frequencies because that is where the most serious acoustical problems are in smaller rooms.
