MultEQ XT vs MultEQ XT32. Possibility to upgrade older units

Good day to all

As an Onkyo PR-SC5507 AV pro owner, I have been led to the temptation to check if my AV pro can accept the new MultiEQ XT32. When I say "if it can accept it" I mean if it is technologically possible to accept it. I have already asked Onkyo-Europe if they plan any upgrade for the 5507, but until now I have no reply. I may not receive any reply at all and this might be considered normal. After all, a company is not at all obliged to answer all crazy questions that are placed by some crack-brained fellows like me.

However, I would really like to know if there are any technical restrictions for an AV Pro (or an AVR), which already incorporates the MultiEQ XT, to be upgraded with the XT32. And, by the way, what are the main differences between these two systems?

    Hi Panagioti,

    Unfortunately there is no way for Audyssey to make this upgrade happen.  It is technically possible, but it would require significant work by Onkyo to change the firmware, user interface, etc.  They have not informed us of any plans to provide such an upgrade.

    Thanks a lot, Chris, for your comment. To say the truth, this came to my mind after several unconfirmed rumors, that had been "in the air" for a while. It seems that there will remain just that: rumors.

    The stated upgrade possibility would be also to true to the Marantz AV7005 processor?

    Hi Fabiano, it's true for every manufacturer.  They have to decide whether to produce an upgrade of the firmware for a specific model.

    the ease of upgrade different for NAD T175 and M15HD. Anything here on new MDC's for XT32?

    NAD has not informed us of any upgrade plans
