will the lower east side dock have the same 200w power rating as the soma dock?

Audyssey Labs Hi Anthony,
This is one of my favorite questions to answer because there is so much misconception around this topic. The basic concept is this: amplifier power ratings are totally meaningless in a powered speaker. They only mean something in a stand-alone amplifier when you don't know what speaker will be connected to it.
The reason is simple. In a powered speaker the characteristics of the speaker are taken into account together with the amplifier. For example, one could put in a 1000 W amp and pair it with an inefficient speaker driver or a 50 W amp and pair it with a very efficient speaker driver. The result would be that the speaker would play just as loud in both cases.
So, in a powered speaker it's all about how loud the speaker can play. The LES dock will play about 5 dB lower than the SoMa dock, but will still hit 95 dB at 1 meter listening distance. That's really loud and much louder than normal listening levels.
I hope this helps answer your question.

anthony harris so if i understand correctly, the soma dock plays at about 100 db?
-
anthony harris also, will it the les have a similar frequency range to the soma?
design esthetics aside, i would like to try the one which is considered the 'flagship' model for sound quality. that is why i am asking.
thank you,

Audyssey Labs Yes, it plays around 100 dB at a listening distance of 1 meter. The LES has smaller woofers so we still consider the SoMa dock our flagship model.

anthony harris thank you sir.
