Mic Position Setup

Hi, I was wondering if there is a good way to set mic on tripod so it doesnt move.  Do you recommend taping it on with masking tape or electrical tape, so it doesnt move?

Also, looking at the chart for mic position setup, it shows positions 7 and 8 behind couch.  My couch is up against a wall, what are 2 other places for 7 and 8 I can use?

thanks

Fred

    Hi Fred,

The Audyssey mic has a hole on the bottom that is threaded for a camera tripod screw.  So you can just screw it on securely.

For a couch against the wall, move positions 7 and 8 about 18" forward to avoid the bass buildup at the back wall.

Thanks for your help.  The couch that is against the wall is where positions 1, 2, and 3 will be.  For 7 and 8, are you saying I should move the couch out and stand behind it for positions 7 and 8?  Also when I setup positions 1,2, and 3, do I put tripod on the couch where I would be sitting?

Lastly, I have a recliner to the right of the couch, do I put tripod in front of recliner or actually put in on the recliner where I would sit?

    Thank you

    Hi Fred,

Simply move the mic forward about 18" from what is shown in the diagram.  The couch can stay where it is.  The idea is to keep the mic away from the back wall.
