Audyssey Labs Hi Mervyn, yes the Audyssey calibration helps match speakers to each other even if they are different brands. I am not sure I understood the last question about the 2-channel system. Are these two more speakers in addition to the McIntosh L and R speakers?

Mervyn Augustine Thanks Chris for the response. The McIntosh L&R Speakers on its own are a dedicated 2-channel audio system. I've integrated the pre-amp and amp of this into the home theatre portion, and when the Home Theatre Processor is turned "on", the pre-amp automatically goes into a "pass thru" mode allowing only 1 control of the volume.
I'm sure different manufacturers will have a different "sound" and "character", how does the Audyssey MultiEq help with the response? Some amplifiers are known to respond at different "speeds" than others, depending on things like circuitry design, does the Audyssey "unify" these characteristics too?
Thanks!

Audyssey Labs Audyssey will measure through the entire system (amp, cables, speaker) and look for deviations from the target response. The vast majority of these will be due to the acoustics of the room and not due to the cables or electronics. In any case, it will produce correction filters that bring the response of each speaker as close as possible to the target curve.
