Integra DHC-80.3 Mic Measurement 2 Problems

Questions on MultiEQ Pro 3.5 Audyssey; In a 5.2 Surround System with an Integra DHC-80.3.

     On Measurement 2 ONLY, when it plays the test tone for Right Surround, sound comes out of the Left Surround Speaker, then when it plays the tone for the Left Surround, no sound is heard, then when it plays the tone for the subwoofer, no sound is heard again and I receive the message (See Pic).  

     This has happened on several attempts, Microphone Position 1 goes through fine, then things fail at Microphone Position 2 when the right surround is tested.

 

This is a 5.2 System, using balanced outs for the L,C,R,SR,SL and un-balanced out SW1, SW2. The DHC-80.3 has current firmware, factory reset was preformed and with the All Clear Audyssey, same results.

The built-in Audyssey for the Integra goes through fine without a hitch.

I was able to get through the Pro Audyssey with just the Front Left, Right and the 2 Subwoofers selected from the setup, but obviously would like to do ALL speakers at some point...

    Hi Nick,

    Did you setup the AVR, did you enable dual  sub, and the back surronds?

    Did you setup the AVR to output on the XLR terminals?

     All this could be done scrolling on the D pad on the AVR.

    You might want to reset the AVR, I have attached instructions to save your setting before doing the reset.

    Luke,

         Yes, I did setup the AVR, DUAL SUB is selected, I am not using "Back Surrounds" just Surrounds, this is only a 5 channel system with 2 subwoofers, L, C, R, SL, SR, SUB1, SUB2.

    There is no XLR terminal setup that I am aware of.

    I have reset the AVR multiple times, presets and settings were cleared, I will try the Save Recall settings.

    Hi Nick,

    We have not encountered this issue before, you could try "ALL CLEAR", and see whether this will work, please write down or save the settings before doing the "ALL CLEAR" procedure.

         I have done the "All Clear as well, same results.

    Just so I'm being clear, microphone position 1 of the Audyssey goes through all speakers just fine with no errors, the tone plays through in this order; L, C, R, SR, SL, SUB 1, SUB 2, then SUB 1 and 2 simultaneously, then when I proceed with microphone position 2, the tone plays through the L, C, R then plays the tone for the Surround Left speaker when the software says it is measuring the Right Surround.

    It seem like the Audyssey software gets the surround speakers out of order on the second microphone position and will not allow me to continue.

    ***Update***

        I've tried loading the Audyssey software onto another computer, updated the firmware on the 80.3 (a new version was posted 7/5/2012), and I've added 2 more surround speakers to complete the 7.2 system, tried running the setup as a 7.1, 7.2, 5.2, 5.1 and a 5.0 configuration (no subwoofers) but every time microphone position 2 plays the calibration tone for the right surround speaker sound comes out of the left surround speaker, no sound is heard from the left surround or subwoofer(s) and I can not continue.

    It seem I'm at a loss here unless you have any other insight.

    ***Update 2***

        I had a chance to test a different DHC-80.3 this weekend, unfortunately I'm getting the same results. I've downloaded the new Audyssey 3.6, and generated new licenses key, I've also tried an older computer with a fresh install of the software and I'm still having the surround speakers test out of order on mic position #2 and I'm unable to continue.

    Any other thoughts? I'm about to give up...

    Nick, if you have a 5-ch surround system you MUST connect the surround speakers to LSurr and RSurr terminals.  It's a common problem to connect them to the Back Surround terminals because most people think of their surrounds as being "in the back".  The Back Surround terminals should only be used for 7.1 systems.

    Chris,

         I can assure you the preouts ARE connected to the Surround Left and Right outputs and NOT the Back.

    Also I've run the calibration as a 7.1, 7.2, 5.2, 5.1, 5.0, connecting the speakers appropriately for each test. In all cases the calibrations fails during microphone position 2 when attempting to calibrate the surround right speaker.
