Marantz AV8003, Velodyne HGS-12, Celestion A1 in 7.1 setup

Hi Chris,

For calibration, I set the Velodyne (which I'm pretty confident doesn't have LFE direct input but correct me if I'm wrong please) to phase 0, turned the LPF to 120 which is the highest and then ran the calibration using the Marantz's Mult EQ.  While the distances were shown accurately, the speaker sizes and crossover frequencies(?) were set to Auto.  In other words, I don't know if the speakers are set to small and at what frequency the sound is being sent to the sub (I do get sound out of the sub).  Is it safe to assume that the speakers (Celestion A1, if it matters) are set to 'small' and the frequencies are 'correct'?  It seems I'm unable to change the sizes and frequencies of the results found by the Mult EQ on the Marantz.  Your help is very much appreciated.

Greg

Additionally, the volume on the sub when I calibrated gave me a '-7.0db' result.  Thanks again.

Sorry for the additional comments, but there is also a switch on the Velodyne that is 'X-over' in or out...I've switched it to 'in.'  Thank you.

    Hi Greg,

-7 dB for the sub is well within the range of the AV8003.  It's fine.

The Velodyne xover should not be used so "out" is what you want.

I assume that "auto" for the xovers means that they are set as Audyssey found them.  But, you will have to check with the Marantz manual.  If you play 2-ch content and you are getting bass coming from the sub then you're fine.  Best to check with Marantz manual.
