Returned AVR advice on Audyssey Version?

Hi, I've returned my previous AVR (with audyssey) and it's replacement pioneer with (MCACC) as I'm struggling to find an amp that does what I need it to do at under £800? I've tried the Onkyo and Pioneer and now looking at Marantz and Denon etc... Can you please confirm what version Audyeesy I would need to allow me to do the following. Play a 5.1 DTS movie (via hdmi) bit-streamed to the AVR, then played through all my "7.1 wide" speaker setup... while, at the same time, adding some kind of dynamic range compression (but not standard/default "DRC" as it doesn't seem to work on all DTS movies) while still maintaining the 7.1 wide configuration. What options do Audyssey have that allows listeners to reduce the dynamic range on movies while in Audyssey wide mode? I've returned 2 AVRs as when I play my DTS movies and enable "DRC" it either drops them back to 5.1 ??? And adds compression, or the movie doesn't support standard DRC and therefore does nothing and says loud as hell in 7.1 wide mode? Can anyone please advise me what I need ensure Is in my specification when buying the new amp. I have a £800 budget, and so far have failed on 2 occasions to get what I need? I just want to have all my content bit streamed into the AVR, up mixed to "7.1 wide" with an option to have a "night mode" added to that 7.1 configuration. Standard "DRC" that is available on the AVR in both pioneer 2021 and onkyo does not work on all DTS bit streamed content... For example DRC works on my TopGun bluray but not my inception bluray.. Meaning I can watch topgun in 7.1 wide (with the dynamic range compressed) but DRC on inception does nothing... Meaning I have to switch to another mode (on the pioneer ALC) which reverted the movie to 5.1 and onkyo did the same? Do audessy have a certain version or feature i must look for to ensure I can do what it is I want to do. Thanks in advance.

Audyssey Dynamic Volume is what you need. Although you didn't mention the model no.s of your previous AVRs that you have returned, but I suspect all of them had Auyssey's Dynamic Volume feature. I have it in my Denon AVR-2310 and it works like a charm.

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply.. Sorry for the wall of text but for some reason this site is not iPad friendly? When I press enter, it doesn't recognise it?

So with the Denon (I'm looking at a 3312) can I enable dynamic EQ, and dynamic volume and DSX wide all at the same time?

How do you feel the volume works, do you find your self turning up quiet voices and turning down explosions?

What settings on your Denon do you use?

    Thanks again for the reply...

DynEQ + DynVol + DSX all work together fine at the same time. Altough I'm not a late night movie watcher, but rest assured the "midnight" setting will surely please you and your loved ones already sleeping once you are listening below 0 dB ref level, hopefully! I basically use DynVol only for cable TV input coz it really does as advertised: hits the head of commercials eliminating the need to jump for the remote. YMMV, but I'd recommend to go for the Denon 3312, not just because of DynVol, but for the full set of Audyssey features available.
