2 different subs with different filter

hi chris ,

my avr is the onkyo 876.

i have 2 subs the one is better in very low frequencies but the other not so much.

i am thinking of using the one with high pass filter 30hz and the other with low pass filter 60hz and then connecting them with y-splitter with the avr.

do you know if i will have problems with the multi eq xt?

thank you

Michalis

    Γεια σου Μιχαλη,

It should work fine.  Why do you need the lowpass filter at all?  I would let the sub go up as high as it can and then let the bass management filters in the AVR take care of the lowpass in the crossover.

    thank you for your answer.

i have the definitive trinity sub and the reviewers say that with lowpass filter at 60hz it plays louder in low frequencies.

The objective is not to play louder--it is to play at the correct level (i.e. matched with the other speakers).  Setting a filter on the sub will interfere with proper measurement and proper bass management in the AVR.
