Subwoofers

I have a Marantz sr7005 receiver which has two sub inputs.  My front speakers are polk LSI 25's and each has it's own sub.  I have a Polk PSW650 sub.  I have hooked up the 650 to a sub in and have hooked up the 2 LSI 25's to the second sub in (with a 3 way plug).  I used Audyssey to set up my system.  Does it see the three subs and does it send any bass to the two LSI's subs or (since I set my crossover to 90) does everything under 90 go to all three subs or my 650?

Thanks Jeff

    Hi Jeff,

I believe you mean sub outputs not inputs, right?  In any case, the SR7005 does not support separate control of multiple subwoofers.  The two Sub Out connectors are playing the same content and Audyssey doesn't have a way to apply separate compensation to each one.

So do I have it hooked up correctly, in your opinion?

Yes, assuming you are hooking up to the outputs and not the inputs

Yes it's hooked up to the outputs.  But I still would like to know if the bass under 90 is going to all 3 subs?  If so, wouldn't I get better bass if it all went to the 650?  Am I not getting the most out of my 650 if some of the bass is going to the LSI's or would it be the same if I only had the 650 hooked up?  Thanks again.

If your crossovers is set to 90 Hz then all subs will receive bass below 90 Hz.  I wouldn't recommend setting it higher because then you may start localizing the subs.

    Chris,

You have been very helpful as usual and I appreciate it.  Let me bug you one last time.  Let's assume my movie is sending out one pint of bass (play with me)  Does the Marantz sent out 1/3 pint to each sub or 0ne pint to each sub?  If the former, aren't I better off disconnecting the LSI's subs and sending the full pint to the 650 which should be a better sub for playing the bass sounds?  Thanks.

    Hi Jeff,

There are benefits in reproducing the bass from multiple points in the room so I would leave the LSI subs in.
