I've just bought an Onkyo TX-NR5010 reciever, but it seems, that it is only possible to use 6 measuring positions in the Audyssey-setup. Is that correct? My old Denon AVR-4308A had a total of 8 positions, so i'm a bit surprised if the Onkyo only has 6...

The 5010 should have 8 measurement positions. The US unit that we certified certainly does. Do you have a non-US unit?
Yes, i have a european unit. I'll try fiddling a bit more with the setup-procedure, but i'm pretty sure it only did 6 measurements.
Hi again Chris. I've tried the setup again a couple of times, and now everything seems fine. 8 measuring positions. I guess it was a software-glitch or something. But I am wondering why, my sub-distance is set to 9 meters, when the actual distace is 2.60 meters? Should I be worried about that? The rest of the distances are spot-on.
By the way, my sub is an Audiovector M3-Sub...

Audyssey measures delay, not distance. Your sub has filters in it that add delay to the signal and so Audyssey is seeing that and time aligning the sub with the other speakers. It should be left as is for proper alignment.
Ok, thanx. I'll leave it be then. I furthermore noticed, that the distance changes relative to how high I set the volume on the sub before running Audyssey. With 75dB, the distance was measured to about 5 meters, and at 78dB the distance was about 9 meters. I guess that's due to the filterlevels in the sub are changed by volume then?
The sub filters should not be volume dependent. However, it could be that there are vibrations that are affecting the microphone readings. Is the mic on a camera tripod? Is the sub isolated from the floor with pads? That will help.
The mic is on a pedistal, wich is sitting on my couch. I haven't got a tripod, sorry. The sub IS isolated with pads. I'll try doing some more measurements, with additional damping.
