MultEQ Pro vs MultEQ XT and MultEQ XT32

MultEQ Pro is the software and calibration kit that can be used with any installer-ready product.  A full list of current models can be found here.  The MultEQ Pro calibration produces filters that fix the acoustical problems in your room.  The filters must run on the same processor that is available to run the standard MultEQ XT (or XT32) that comes with the AVR and so the filter resolution is the same as what the AVR version already offers.  However, the MultEQ Pro software and calibration kit gives the following advantages for both MultEQ XT and XT32:

1. Professional mic that is individually calibrated

2. The ability to take more measurements (up to 32)

3. The ability to save and re-load measurements

4. The ability to make adjustments to the target sound using a graphical interface

    Good day to all,

Although I know that my AV Pro (Onkyo PR-SC5507) is not an installer-ready unit, I am a little bit confused, when I see the Audyssey advertisement about the benefits of calling a professional installer and let him calibrate you HT room.

    What gives? Thanks.

How much does this service typically cost?

Also, is there anybody in the Pittsburgh area that does this? The closest I found using your site was 67 miles away from zip code 15131.

Audyssey doesn't determine the installer price.  Each one is an individual business and so you would have to check with them on the cost of their services.

    Hello,

Recently I bought AVR-4311 and would like to make measurments more precise using XT32. Can you provide model name or give hint on Samson micrphone stand you use in Pro kit?

Thank you in advance for recommendations.

Hi, we don't use a Samson microphone in the Audyssey Pro Kit.  That was discontinued more than 5 years ago.  Now the kit uses a custom designed microphone manufactured by Audyssey.  If you are interested in purchasing the kit, please email installer@audyssey.com and they will be able to help you.

Thank, Mr Chris, for prompt reply.

    1. In such case could you recommend suitable manufacture or model of microphone stand with boom for amateur measurment? Or for example, any microphone stand with boom would be ok for measurments?

    1. Thank you for your offer, but I have to refuce it (for now), because, here, in Lithuania, we don't have professional audio/sound callibrators, who could provide me quality service using your Pro callibration kit:(. Also my knowledge of audio callibration is very basic. Due to above that would be waste of money and your high quality kit/feature.

I don't know of any low cost microphone solutions that will give good measurements. Microphones require calibration curves that must be loaded in the software.

Thank you, Chris, for your replies. Your participation and replies in this forum just makes stronger proof, that I made right selection, when I chose AV reciever wit Auddyssey software. I don't see that other companies would offer such service/value  as your company for end-users.

Concerning microphone stand, I mean not calibration tool -microphone, but holder for microphone. Here is the link what I mean by term "microphone stand with boom":

    Hi Chris,

My pre-amp processor is the Marantz AV7005 with MultiEQ XT.  As you know, Marantz did not include display for subwoofer filter settings.  The Pro software will enable me to see this finally? Does the standard XT filter resolution of 128x for the subwoofer actually mean that 128 adjustments are made to the processor LFE output signal?  I ask, because I have (2) velodyne subs with AutoEQ capability (8 adjustments).  My thoughts have been to leave the internal sub EQ flat and let Audyssey make the necessary adjustments.  512 vs. 8, is this fair comparision?

    thanks

    Hi Rob,

The Pro software does not show the filters.  It shows the before and after frequency response of each speaker including the subwoofer.

The resolution listed is 128x compared to the basic resolution x in 2EQ.  We list everything in relative terms.  The actual number of filter coefficients is in the many thousands.

    Hello,

I am confused about if there is a different between MultEQ XT and MultEQ XT32 if you choose to have it Pro calibrated.

Are there the same amount af filters when it is Pro calibrated regardless if the avr has MultEQ XT and MultEQ XT32? (As long it can be pro indstalled)

This confuses me from you website:

    |
    Filter resolution (subwoofer):
    | MultEQ XT32 - 512x
    |  / MultEQ XT - 128x
    |

    |
Filter resolution (satellites): MultEQ XT32 -
    | 512x
    |

     / MultEQ XT - 16x

    Hi Danny,

    Hi Danny,

MultEQ Pro does not increase the resolution. It gives the 4 benefits listed in the first post.  The filter resolution depends on the processor in the AVR.  It is where the filters have to run ultimately and so they will be XT or XT32 depending on which AVR you have.
