EQ Ap for SOMA

I love the fact that I can create and name specific EQ's for the SOMA ap.   Question I noticed when I created a EQ curve while off the dock when I rebooted the Iphone the eq curve ap just created went back to a flat line when re-opened.   If I created EQ ap whille on the dock and save it on a reboot it does save the ap.   Is there something I am missing?  It would be handy to create aps while away from the dock and be able to use them again after a reboot of the Iphone.

Thanks

Al B

    Hi Al,

You should be able to create and save an EQ curve on your phone even when you're not docked.  Hit the upper right button in the curve page (the one with the pencil icon).  Then hit the + icon and name your new curve.  After that, go ahead and draw what you like.  When you dock and hit apply it should apply.  If, for some reason it's not, then double click on the iPhone home button and find the Audyssey app on the bottom strip.  Hold your finger over it until they all start wiggling and hit the – sign to shut it down.  When you restart the app it should all work as intended.

Thanks Chris for your prompt response.  I will give this a try!  Perhaps you could

invoke a save in these situations as it does not appear to be saving for me even though I hit the "apply" function.

    Hi Al,

When you create a new curve in the app using the method I described above, then it's saved in the app.  Then, all you have to do to apply it is to hit the Apply button.

If it's not applying then please make sure you force-quit the app as I described above.

Thanks Chris for your prompt response over the weekend.  That worked!  The new curve was saved however I have new discovered a new problem or one that I did not realize.  When power down my Iphone to shut it off and refresh itself each day when it opens up again in accessing your EQ ap the new curve that I created or the last curve that I had applied is not the curve that it start on when it is rebooted.  In fact no matter what I do...it keeps defaulting to an earlier curve that I created when it starts.   Even if I delete this curve and I have done it several times it keeps recreating this curve on a fresh boot up and flattens the curve on re-open.

Is there a way to force the ap to start up the curve you want on a Iphone power-down restart?

    Thanks,

    Al

Chris, my apologies I should of offered you more ifo:

    Iphone 4.3.5(8L1)

    Modern firmware   04.10.01

    Soma ap version:  1.0.34.34

Symptoms:  Will not save last curve created.  Defaults to the same curve on start-up even if the curve has been delted

    Tried:

    1.  forcing the ap close as recommended

    2.  turned power off switch on back

    3. unplugged the unit for 1 min

None of the above allowed it on a fresh reboot to start up with the curve I wanted or the last curve created

    Thanks,

    Al

No problem.  I have some past software development experience having previously

owned and operated a software company.

Chris, has there been a delay on the ap?  I keep checking for updates and have not seen the new

    version.

The app was submitted last week, but I don't know how long Apple takes to approve.  It depends on their backlog I guess.

    Hi Chris, update works well.

Question when I reboot my Iphone 4 which has the latest OS5 the EQ

parameter last used is now being shown properly when the ap is opened.   The graph shown is shown in "red" as opposed to "green" active.   Does this mean I have to everytime reapply the "apply setting to get the line to show green or is my last default setting being used even though the line shows red.

To me it would make more sense to have the line on the graph on a fresh reboot to show up in green to indicate that it is the active EQ being utilitzed.

    Just a thought....comments

Hi Al, yes this is expected behavior.  The app doesn't "read back" the setting that was stored on the device.  When we first developed it there was no easy way to do that.  Now, we are working on a method that will allow us to read it back.

    Thanks Chris that makes sense.

Even the ap does not read back the settings is the last setting become the new default and

the dock enhances this sound setting even though the eq line is shown in red until you hit apply or does the line have to be in greeen before the user gets the benefit of the revised slope?

Yes, the curve is flashed on the dock and will stay there until you change it or turn it off via the app.
