Bluetoothstreaming and pitch-fluttering

I love the Audyssey Dock but one really annoying problem is that when I am streaming music through bluetooth the pitch sometimes starts to flutter as if bluetooth was trying to find a lost sync again. This either happens when bluetooh connection is lost for a second or if I pause music for some time and then restart it again. I noticed this with all devices I have paired with the Dock so far including Iphone4, Ipad2, and a Samsung Wave. The Audyssey Dock is the only bluetooth speaker which suffers from such a problem, I have various other bluetooth-speakers and none ever did something like this. The problem is that even if the connection is lost for only a fraction of a second, the pitch starts to change and needs some time to come down again, it sounds as if the music was accelerating and then slowing down again to finally reach the original pitch or speed. Can this be corrected somehow please, or is there no way? Thanks and best regards, Olaf

Here is the mentioned audio-file. Sorry for the bad quality but i have recorded it with a second iPhone. I hope the link is working as I did the upload directly from iPhone through the dropbox-app:

I am starting with the track being played from the dock-connector, then I switch over to bluetooh at 10 seconds, you will notice how the song seems to accelerate now and come down again to original pitch when I switch over to the dock output again at about 23 seconds. Again Bluetooth at ca 28 seconds and the switch back to dock at 33 sec where you can hear the jump in pitch quite well I think. Once again switch over to Bluetooth at 43 and back to dock at 51.

What do you think about it?

please let me know what you think about this problem or if you don't regard this as problem at all, because for me it is. any short bluetooth interruption results in these pitch-changes which really can become annoying with particular genres. of course you won't notice it with techno, but any clean piano-sound will sound out of tune.

    Hello Oluv,

My apologies for the delay in responding to your issue.  For some reason I didn't receive the notification.  I'm not familiar with the issue you are speaking of but am curious if you've tried the factory reset on the unit yet.  This is done by holding down both buttons on the back of the unit for a few seconds. The dock will shut down and then turn back on again.  If you continue to have the same Bluetooth issue after trying that then I would be more than happy to assist you with a Warranty Return.

    Best regards,

    Cindy

hmm, how long do i have to wait that the unit turns on again? i kept holding both buttons until it shut down, but it didn't turn on again on its own. only the LED at the back is blinking now steadily. should i turn it off completely with the power-switch at the back and try turning it on again?

    thanks, olaf

    Hi Oluv,

Keep the unit on and then push in the two buttons on the rear to reset it.  The lights will flash after it is reset.  Let me know how that works.

    Thank you,

    Cindy

i did the reset, but it didn't change anything in the behaviour. as soon as i switch from dock to bluetooth or if i start playback through bluetooth it always starts sounding out of tune.

are you sure that this is a defect of my particular unit and not a general problem of the bluetooth driver etc?

to tell the truth i already tried to exchange my device as my dock was also slightly skewed from the beginning. i have bought it through amazon.de but they don't have them in stock anymore and only offered a full refund which i didn't accept as i really like the SoMa and want to keep it.

    any ideas?

    thanks again for help!

Hello, I have exactly the same problem as Olaf describes. The music pitch slows for the first 10 or 15 seconds when streaming from any bluetooth device (in my case a HP touchpad and an iPod touch) but is fine after that. It sounds like an old cassette tape playing badly. I have tried to reset the dock as described but no change. It really sounds like a firmware upgrade is needed to address this problem.

If you find that the problem persists even after the factory reset please email me at ctrudeau@audyssey.com and I will assist you with an warranty return as long as you are within the 1-year warranty period.  Thank you.
