Soma random music playing

I posted a comment here and it was deleted by Audyssey. I tried two different units and both did the same thing, they would start playing music randomly. this was with the new iphone 4S. Nobody from Audyssey ever responded to my comments. Thank you Audyssey for your support. You do have an issue here that needs attention. Deleting my posts won't make it go away. I know someone else also posted this topic but that thread goes nowhere with no reasonably fix. The pause/start button on top of the unit is way to sensitive and the blue tooth connect button on the 2nd unit didn't work at all. I would be willing to try this unit again with an updated version as the sound was good. I ended up with the Altec Lansing Octiv 650. No Blue Tooth but it does what it's told and sounds as good as the Audyssey IMHO. It also charges my iphone with the power button off. The Audyssey also seems to get pretty hot on the top rear if left on to just charge my phone.

I have never experienced any random playing, but i noticed that my SoMa reacts to any infrared remote when it is in standbymode. If i put it into standby and then operate the remote from my TV it turns on automatically as well.

Maybe it also starts playing in the same way, when some other infrared signal is received.

I have the exact same behaviour, first i blamed it to the remote of the tv and macMini attached, but after putting the SOMA into another room, I have the same experience. I bought my Audyssey SOMA at the Apple Store two days ago. It has a great sound, but this behaviour is totally _annoying....

I would appreciate an helpful answer :)

    Hi Thomas,

As far as we can tell this issue happens sometimes depending on the incoming cell/network data on the iPhone.  It is very hard to replicate consistently, but it seems that sometimes the incoming cell data triggers the touch sensitive switch (it's a capacitive switch) on the top of the unit.  Because not all units have it, we believe that it's dependent on the environment and the incoming traffic.  It has been very frustrating for us to try to debug this.

    Hi CHris,

thank you very much for your answer. Is there any possibility to switch this button off, since I probably won't use this button anyway? I think an freehand-speaker-system for IPhone should handle data connections...

    Thank You

    Hi Thomas,

There is no way currently, but we are looking into how do to that via firmware.

meanwhile mine also started to behave in a strange way. it still didn't start to play any music on its own like that from William, but it started to turn on and off automatically.

i first noticed it when i docked my iphone for charging, some seconds later it went into standby-mode on its own (the top light became red). i tried to turn it on again several times, but every time it went off again after some seconds. it stopped doing so after i turned it off completely with the back-button.

the other time it did the exact contrary, wanted to put it into standby-mode, but after some seconds it magically went on again. it came that far that the touch-button wouldn't react at all, i could only operate it through the remote.

i did a hard reset yesterday and now it behaves normally again, but who knows for how long.
i doubt this is a problem with the touch-button but seems rather to be some kind of software bug.

There is no such known software bug.  I am beginning to wonder if your dock hasn't somehow been damaged.

I do not have problems with music randomly starting, but I find that the music from my dock occasionally stops and starts again for no apparent reason. The pause between stopping and starting is about a second or so, and it usually does so in a burst, i.e. stop-1s-start-1s-stop-1s-start then carries on playing, although occasionally it will not resume playing on its own.

I'm indoors in an office with no window, and the 3G reception can drop out occasionally, so that may be consistent with what Audyssey has diagnosed for this problem.

    Fix it, please!
