Crackling sound / distortion with Audyssey Amp turned on

Anybody else notice a strange crackling sound / distortion on certain tracks when Audyssey Amp is turned on? It happens during loud (crescendo parts of songs), and is repeatable if you jump back and replay those parts of the song where the distortion occurred. This happens even at mid-low volume levels, using AMP player on my ipad 3rd generation. I'm using Dr Dre iBeats.

    Good example of this happens on the recent Katie Melua album, Ketevan (downloaded from iTunes), track "Mad mad men", very noticeable at position 1:47, as well as end of the song.
